Augenstein was drafted by the Diamondbacks in the seventh round of the 2007 Major League Baseball Draft out of the University of Florida.
Augenstein made his major league debut on May 13, 2009 against the Cincinnati Reds.[1]
On October 13, 2010, Augenstein was claimed off waivers by the St. Louis Cardinals.
